CMS Omnibus COVID-19 Health Care Staff Vaccination Interim Final Rule published November 5, 2021
There are two phases or effective dates defined in the IFC vaccination requirements:
A. Phase 1 requirements: By December 5, 2021, all Agency staff have received, at a minimum the
the first dose of the primary series or a single dose COVID-19 vaccine, or requested and/or been granted a lawful exemption, prior to staff providing any care, treatment, or other services for the Agency and/or its patients. Phase 1 also includes the requirements for facilities to have appropriate policies and procedures developed and implemented.
B. Phase 2 requirements: By January 4, 2022, all applicable staff are fully vaccinated for COVID-19, except for those staff who have been granted exemptions from COVID-19 vaccination or those staff for whom COVID-19 vaccination must be temporarily delayed, as recommended by the CDC, due to clinical precautions and considerations.
